SIDESHOW DOUG F.A.Q’s
What
are your favorite comedies?
You should probably ask my Tivo. It never misses The
Office, South Park, 2.5 Men & Daily Show.
I also think Fox news is really funny, but I'd classify
that as more of a dark comedy.
Do
you ever talk about yourself in third
person?
Yes, Doug does occasionally talk about himself in the third
person. He’s a great comedy writer, dedicated, hard
working, and he’s fun to hang out with. And he thinks
a preposition can be a good thing to end a sentence with.
What
is your comedy background?
It's a comedy gauntlet. I’ve done stand-up, sketch
comedy and improv. In 2006 I graduated from Second City's
Conservatory Program.
What
do you do for fun?
Snowboarding, swing dancing, juggling, rollerblading,
technology & anything related to the Macintosh.
So
I'm supposed to ask you about your car. Can you tell
me more about that?
Sure. In 2006 I converted a 1980 diesel Mercedes 300d
to run on vegetable oil. It’s an experiment to
reduce my consumption of petroleum. My wife nicknamed the
car Grease Lightning (because of the fuel, not the speed
– it takes 14 seconds to go 0-60).
Where are you from?
I grew up in Montana, went to high school in Billings and
then attended Montana State in Bozeman, where I got my
degree in Film & Television production, before moving
to California.
Do
you have any unusual talents?
I have a knack for making up funny names and creating new
words.
Here are a few examples:
-
Pastronomy:
Eating a highly seasoned cut of smoked beef while studying
the universe.
-
Angie
O'Plasty (a fine Irish name)
-
Lobotomotopeia:
The inability to say words like "buzz", "bang", "click",
"pop"...
You can get a daily dose of fake words delivered to your
email in-box, from my blog at Dougtionary.com
Have you
won any awards?
Time Magazine Person of the Year 2006. I’m extremely
proud of that.
My computer gave me the MVP award in Solitaire for the last
three years.
