2008 news highlights:

-- The strike is officially over and the WGA membership has ratified the contract. Now it's time for collective amnesia, so the writers and producers can all forget how much they hated each other over the last 3.5 months and get back to working together, because we need each other.

-- This technically falls into December '07, but it's how we celebrated the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008. By renting Segways and zipping all around the Long Beach harbor. It was more fun than I had imagined.
If you are in the Los Angeles area, check out Segway of Long Beach.

2007 news highlights:

-- The AMPTP walked out on negotiations again. This is going to be a long one.

-- Due to the lack of any reasonable discussion between the AMPTP and the WGA, the writers are now on strike. We're hoping that the AMPTP will soon be willing to return to the table to discuss a reasonable contract. At the moment, AMPTP is not willing to talk, and it appears they are content with letting the studio system implode on itself as many mid and lower level studio employees are let go.

Until this is resolved, the writers are not working and your favorite scripted TV shows will dry up very rapidly.

And now for some of the less industry-impacting updates from this year...

-- I just returned from my summer vacation in Montana. It was Melissa's first trip, Billings, Red Lodge, the Beartooth Highway drive into Yellowstone National Park, then Ennis, Virginia City, Nevada City and Bozeman. Gotta love the Big Sky Country.

-- I'm currently doing some joke punchup work for another writer's romantic comedy.

-- I am also writing a mini-pilot / 5 minute promo for Big Picture Production, which the producers will take to Comedy Central, Spike, FX and other cable channels.

-- In addition to the above projects, I'm currently hard at work writing a comedy pilot. The topic of the series... we'll I'll keep that under wrap for now.

-- In February I had my annual pilgrimage to Montana for a week of snowboarding and breathing clean air. We had a few great days of snow with more than 18 inches of fresh powder! I love visiting Montana and the exchange rate to Montana dollars is really good right now, making food and drink really cheap! :)

2006 news highlights:

-- This year I graduated from Second City's Conservatory Program, a one year intensive program in improvisation. See clips in the Video section of this site.

-- I purchased an old Mercedes diesel car and had it converted to run on vegetable oil. Check out my blog under the "Veggie Car" section.

-- In February, I survived a -10 high temp in Bozeman. When the freeze finally lifted and the temp got up to +10, we were rewarded with 3 feet of fresh pow at Bridger Bowl. That was the best snowboarding I've seen in the last 5 years!
